Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – AI-Driven FinTech Start-up

Location: London (Flexible hybrid working)

Compensation: Up to £150,000 + meaningful equity

We’re working with an early-stage FinTech venture building a next-generation AI platform that empowers organisations to stay ahead of fast-moving external developments. Combining revolutionary technology with a unique approach to contextual insight, the platform helps clients identify emerging risks and opportunities in real time, translating complex signals into actionable intelligence tailored to their business.

As they enter a critical phase, with upcoming client demos, MVP validation, and early implementations on the horizon, they're seeking a strategic, hands-on CTO to lead the company’s technical vision and execution. This is a founding leadership opportunity to shape the future of an industry-defining platform, influence product direction, build a high-calibre engineering team, and partner with global financial institutions.

The Opportunity

This isn’t just another CTO role. You will:

• Architect and scale a highly intelligent, self-learning agentic platform capable of embedding human expertise and learning from usage patterns in real-time.
• Build a system that interprets complex global data, links it to enterprise-specific exposures, and delivers contextualised recommendations.
• Define a flexible architecture that can adapt to new domains and evolve with client needs.
• Collaborate directly with clients, investors, and capital partners to ensure credibility, delivery, and long-term scale.
• Translate PoC momentum into scalable, compliant, secure enterprise-grade deployments.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and build: Lead design and execution of a secure, scalable, cloud-native architecture. System is built in Python, using agentic LLM strategies (multi-agent RAG).
• Collaborate and innovate: Work closely with Chief AI Engineer and founders to define the product roadmap and push the boundaries of real-time predictive analytics.
• Lead technical delivery: Own end-to-end delivery, from prototypes to client integrations, ensuring security, compliance, and enterprise readiness.
• Bridge vision and execution: Translate product vision into an executable roadmap while maintaining the agility of a start-up.
• Engage externally: Be the technical face of the company in client and investor meetings, articulating roadmap, vision, and scalability.

What We’re Looking For

✔ Industry Knowledge

• Deep experience in wholesale financial services or adjacent enterprise sectors.
• Proven record of deploying technology within regulated, complex enterprise environments, including integration into internal client data layers, cloud systems, and governance frameworks.

✔ Start-Up & Scale-Up Experience

• A hands-on senior leader with prior experience taking a product from concept/MVP to live enterprise deployments.
• Comfortable with rapid prototyping, iterative feedback loops, and balancing tech debt with innovation.

✔ Technical Strength

• Deep architectural and engineering background - ideally with hands-on full-stack experience in Python.
• Strategic grasp of LLM systems (agent-based architectures, evaluation layers, human-in-the-loop designs), even if not an AI expert.
• Can make practical decisions on model choice, architecture design, and technical trade-offs in early-stage environments.

✔ Leadership & Communication

• Inspiring, credible leader who can attract top engineering talent and collaborate with AI researchers.
• Comfortable in client meetings and investor discussions, articulating complex tech in commercial terms.
• Brings operational rigor and creativity - equally at home building from scratch and thinking about future extensions into new verticals.

Tech Stack & Concepts

• AI/LLM Strategy: Multi-agent RAG architecture, real-time model evaluation, adaptive agent coordination
• Enterprise Engineering: Data lake integration, secure APIs, compliance and regulatory alignment
• Product Focus: Real-time alerts, contextual event tracking, client-specific strategic insights
