Divisional SHEQ Lead

Location: Bristol / Reading / Kent - with regional travel across the South

Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + Car / Allowance + benefits

About the Role:

We’re working with a leading infrastructure and civil engineering contractor to appoint a Regional Head of SHEQ. This senior leadership role will oversee safety, health, environment and quality across the South Region, covering a portfolio of infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

You will play a key role in shaping SHEQ culture, managing performance, and providing expert guidance to operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead SHEQ strategy across the South Region, supporting delivery on major civils and infrastructure projects.
• Provide visible leadership to SHEQ managers and advisors, coaching and developing the team.
• Act as the senior point of contact for clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders on SHEQ matters.
• Drive behavioural safety, environmental, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to bids and tenders, embedding SHEQ excellence into project mobilisation and planning.
• Support innovation and best practice across all projects.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven track record in a SHEQ leadership role within infrastructure, civil engineering or rail.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Hands-on, site-engaged approach with excellent stakeholder management.
• Chartered IOSH status (or working towards) with relevant SHEQ qualifications (NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Experience of managing diverse teams and driving SHEQ culture in complex project environments.
