Job description
Are you an organised, proactive individual with a background in science or research project support? We’re looking for a Programme Coordinator to join a busy Research, Innovation & Sustainability team on a six-month temporary assignment.
Circa £33k per annum, pro rata to £17.33 per hour plus holiday entitlement
This varied role will see you working with senior colleagues, technical experts, and stakeholders from government, academia, and industry to help drive important research programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day diary management, coordinating meetings and planning activities.
- Support programme leads through all stages of the research cycle, from project commissioning to delivery and evaluation.
- Handle administrative tasks including agenda setting, minute taking, financial tracking, purchase orders, and invoice processing.
- Act as secretariat to programme advisory groups, ensuring accurate records and oversight.
- Support the delivery of events, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Monitor shared inboxes, maintain SharePoint files, and ensure version control of key documents.
- Assist in horizon scanning for collaboration opportunities and co-funding relevant to research priorities.
About You
- A degree in a scientific subject or demonstrable experience supporting/coordinating research or project management.
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise competing demands and escalate issues where needed.
- Confident, clear communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Skilled at preparing meetings, producing accurate minutes, and ensuring timely follow-up.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Experience in a scientific, research, or programme coordination environment is highly desirable.
You will need to be available to commence this temporary assignment within a week or two, and must be free to commit to the duration (6 months initially, with potential for extension).
