Higher Learning Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEND Support Team

Day Rate: £competitive

Contract Length: up to 3 months

Location: East London

An East London local authority is seeking a highly skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its specialist SEND support service. This interim role supports children and young people aged 5-25 who are currently unable to access education due to:

• Medical needs
• Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
• Complex SEND and challenging behaviour
• Risk of permanent exclusion (PEX)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver core curriculum subjects (English, Maths, Science) to pupils not currently in school
• Manage a caseload of learners with diverse and complex needs
• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Provide tailored teaching and intervention to enable access to learning
• Support transition back into full-time educational settings
