Quantity Surveyor

Location: Northampton

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Benefits

A growing independent consultancy is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Northampton office. You’ll play a key role in delivering new build care homes, retirement living schemes and multi-bed residential projects, providing commercial leadership from feasibility through to final account.

This role offers the chance to work in a client-facing capacity, acting as a trusted advisor while shaping cost strategy on meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans and budget forecasts.
• Lead tendering, subcontract procurement and bid evaluation.
• Produce Bills of Quantities (BOQs), Contract Sum Analyses (CSAs) and Change Valuation Records (CVRs).
• Manage contract costs, variations, claims, risk and final accounts.
• Advise on value engineering during design development.
• Attend site progress meetings, issue cost reports and liaise with project teams to manage change.
• Administer JCT/NEC contracts in collaboration with project managers.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, presenting commercial advice confidently.

About You

• Background in a construction consultancy or client-side environment.
• Experience in new build residential / multi-bed / care or retirement living schemes.
• Skilled in cost planning, procurement, variations, and final accounts.
• Confident with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
• Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (RICS chartered or working towards preferred).
• Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to attend sites when required.
