Job description
Our customer, a multinational finance corporation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Leveraged Finance Lawyer to join the EMEA Acquisition and Leveraged Finance Legal team on a 6-month contract role. This role will primarily focus on large-cap leveraged finance transactions, with additional exposure to real estate finance and other lending transactions across the Commercial and Investment Banking business.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with lawyers and bankers on high-profile matters, advising through the full lifecycle of transactions and collaborating across a broad range of financing products.
Start Date: November 2025
Duration: 6 months (initial term)
Commitment: Full-time
Location: London (5 days in-office)
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on large-cap leveraged finance transactions, from NDAs through to commitment papers, long-form documentation, distribution, and related enquiries.
- Support the real estate finance team on loan documentation and transaction-specific queries.
- Provide legal support across other areas of lending, including investment grade, general corporate, and markets lending transactions (with training provided where needed).
- Negotiate client-facing loan documentation and liaise with external counsel.
- Deliver legal advice to business stakeholders and functional partners.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the DCM Lending Legal team.
- Independently manage a significant volume of transactions and client queries in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Law degree and admission to practice in England & Wales (must meet all relevant licensing requirements prior to commencement).
- Minimum 4 years’ post-qualification experience in leveraged finance, ideally gained at a leading law firm or in-house.
- Experience with large-cap acquisition finance transactions is essential; real estate finance exposure is desirable but not required.
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating contracts, reviewing legal documentation, and delivering concise legal analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking ownership of matters independently.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and results-driven.
