Urban Designer / Masterplanner UK experience in City of London

MADE Careers is looking for an Urban Designer / Masterplanner UK experience in City of London

Job description

We’re working with one of the UK’s most respected design studios; a multidisciplinary practice with a reputation for delivering thoughtful, people focused masterplans and housing-led regeneration projects. Their work spans from new garden communities and urban extensions through to town centre regeneration and high-density mixed-use schemes across the UK.

As their London team continues to grow, they’re looking for a Masterplanner to join their talented Placecraft team. It’s an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant projects and be part of a studio that’s shaping the future of sustainable living in the UK.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking a key role across a range of projects, from garden towns to high value, medium-rise urban sites.
  • Developing and delivering design material from concept through to outline planning and design coding.
  • Producing high-quality plans and documents including design codes, DAS reports, and illustrative masterplans.
  • Preparing site analysis, feasibility studies and contributing to outline/hybrid planning applications.
  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders and communities through presentations and public consultation events.
  • Collaborating with a talented in-house team of architects, planners, and landscape designers.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in Architecture or Urban Design, with at least 3+ years’ postgraduate experience in a UK practice.
  • Experience in housing-led masterplanning and the UK planning process.
  • Strong design and presentation skills, with confidence using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and the Affinity or Adobe Suite.
  • A real passion for placemaking, housing, and sustainable design.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Why join this studio?

  • Be part of one of the UK’s leading design studios, known for creating great places to live.
  • Work in a collaborative, inclusive, and design-led environment with real opportunities to grow your career.
  • Join a certified B-Corp practice committed to social and environmental responsibility.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, with clear progression and professional development opportunities.
