Job Title: Development Surveyor – Affordable Housing Sector

Location: Birmingham (hybrid flexible working)

Salary: £42,000- £48,000 basic salary + global consultancy benefits package

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a driven and newly-qualified Development Surveyor to join a dynamic team focused on affordable housing delivery in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. This role offers exposure to a broad range of projects that support inclusive, sustainable communities through affordable and mixed-tenure housing developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver development consultancy services to housing associations, local authorities, and private sector partners.
  • Support the acquisition and disposal of residential and mixed-use development land, with a focus on affordable housing schemes.
  • Contribute to strategic land promotion and valuation for long-term housing delivery.
  • Act as an agent for both buyers and sellers of development land, including identifying and securing development partners for strategic landowners.
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to unlock new opportunities, with a strong emphasis on planning and policy alignment.
  • Collaborate on feasibility studies, market analysis, and development appraisals to inform investment decisions and housing strategy.
  • Build and nurture a network of contacts across the affordable housing ecosystem, including developers, planners, funders, and local government.


About You:

  • Recently qualified (MRICS or equivalent) with a passion for housing-led regeneration and social impact.
  • Career mindset- this is fantastic progressive opportunity within a global consultancy providing a clear route of progression to directorship.
  • Strong understanding of planning processes and housing policy is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
