Head of AI Governance in City of London

Job description

We have partnered with an Events business in their search for a Head of AI Governance to lead on AI initiatives and shape an enterprise-wide AI Policy Framework. You will work with technology, business, and governance teams to ensure AI is used ethically, transparently, and in compliance with regulations. This hands-on role is ideal for a proactive leader with an expertise in AI who thrives in complex environments and can influence senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the AI program, including policies, processes, training, and tools.
• Act as the internal expert on AI regulations, policies, and technical considerations.
• Manage AI impact assessments, track risks, and align with privacy and cybersecurity processes.
• Maintain a register of AI deployments and monitor governance metrics.
• Advise leadership on AI policy, regulatory, and operational matters.
• Develop and deliver training and communications to enhance AI governance maturity.
• Support Legal & Governance teams in identifying AI use cases and coordinating with technical teams.
• Monitor global AI policy, regulatory, and legal developments.

Candidate Profile:

• 8+ years in governance or advisory roles balancing technical, legal, and commercial factors.
• A background in legal strongly advantageous
• Strong understanding of AI challenges and enterprise AI deployment.
• Results-driven, organized, and able to make pragmatic decisions under ambiguity.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring colleagues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse teams.

Desirable:

• AIGP certification
• Legal background
