Job description
Head of SEO – Manchester
Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
Type: Full-time
We’re searching for a Head of SEO who can set the vision, lead the strategy, and inspire a team to deliver outstanding results.
This is not a “keep the lights on” role. It’s about taking ownership of SEO across technical, content, and authority, and building approaches that help brands dominate search in their markets. You’ll have the freedom to shape how SEO is done — from defining best practice to spotting new opportunities that others miss.
If you’re ready to step into a senior role where your decisions carry weight, your ideas drive growth, and your leadership shapes the future of SEO delivery, this could be the challenge you’re looking for.
What you’ll be leading
- Setting the overall SEO strategy and ensuring it ties into wider business goals
- Driving performance across technical SEO, on-page optimisation, and off-page activity
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of SEO specialists
- Overseeing audits, roadmaps, and performance reviews to keep clients ahead of competitors
- Acting as the senior voice of SEO in pitches, client meetings, and cross-channel projects
- Staying at the forefront of SEO innovation, testing and adopting new approaches before they become mainstream
What you bring
- Significant experience in SEO, with proven leadership in an agency or in-house setting
- Deep knowledge of technical SEO, content optimisation, and authority building
- Strong communication skills — comfortable presenting SEO strategy to senior stakeholders
- A track record of delivering measurable improvements in search visibility, traffic, and conversions
- Experience managing and mentoring SEO teams to deliver consistently high standards
- A forward-thinking, proactive approach with the confidence to challenge and inspire
What’s on offer
- A senior leadership role with influence across multiple brands and campaigns
- Hybrid working in Manchester with flexibility
- The chance to shape the direction of SEO strategy and team development
- Support for continuous learning, tools, and attending industry events
- A collaborative, ambitious environment where your expertise will be recognised and valued
