Role: Business Development Lead


Location: Midlands / North of England


Package: £100,000 + Car + 50% bonus


Middlemore have been exclusively retained by a leading infrastructure services business, which specialises in the repair and maintenance of high-pressure pipes, primarily in the utilities sector; gas, water, hydrogen, LNG.


This is the perfect role for a strategic, results-driven leader with a proven record in driving significant growth within services aligned to the energy or utilities sector, particularly across high-value, contract-led environments.


About the Role

The remit spans the UK, leading a high-performing team to identify, assess, and secure new business opportunities while also expanding opportunities with existing clients in the gas, water, hydrogen, or LNG sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering against ambitious revenue growth targets, developing and executing business development strategies, and building lasting commercial relationships at the senior stakeholder level.

This is a hands-on, people-focused leadership role—mentoring and developing the business development and sales teams, setting clear goals, driving individual and collective performance, and fostering a culture of innovation, customer focus, and high achievement. You will be at the forefront of industry trends, leveraging deep market insight to influence strategy and guide your team. What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years’ success in business development or sales leadership, with at least 5 years in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrable experience driving strong, sustainable growth within a contract-based business model.
  • Ability to build and leverage networks at executive level, manage complex negotiations, and close high-value deals.
  • An analytical mindset, strategic grasp of market forces, and proven ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Inspirational team leadership—building, mentoring, and driving high-performing teams to exceed revenue targets.
