Account Executive / Construction Broker

Location: London (Lloyd’s Market)

Salary: £60,000 – £90,000 (depending on experience) plus good benefit and excellent career progression opportunities

This role sits within a dynamic division of a fast-growing global (re)insurance group that is investing heavily in building out its London Market platform. Backed by the scale and network of a top US-headquartered brokers, the firm is driving expansion in construction lines, with a mandate to channel significant North American business through London and beyond. With an ambitious leadership team and strong growth trajectory, this is an opportunity to join at the ground floor of a major build-out.

Role Summary:

As Account Executive / Broker, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing the London construction portfolio — with an initial focus on North American risks with further global territories which will fall into this team over time. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll have a rare chance to help shape the foundations of a new team while gaining mentorship from a highly experienced market leader. This is a hands-on broking role that blends client-facing account handling with Lloyd’s market placement, offering both immediate impact and clear long-term progression.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead placement of North American and international construction risks into Lloyd’s and the wider market, ensuring robust wordings and frameworks are agreed.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale and retail brokers, enhancing market reach and client servicing.

• Support the creation of line slips and insurer panels to streamline administration and improve deal flow.

• Collaborate with global colleagues to respond to opportunities in Canada, the US, and emerging international markets.

• Contribute to building out the London team, with scope to take on increased leadership responsibility as the business grows.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in construction risks, ideally within US (3–4+ years ideal)

• Strong technical understanding of slips, wordings, and relevant coverages (e.g., natural catastrophe perils)

• Prior exposure to the Lloyd’s and London Market is preferred but good regional construction experience will be considered

• Track record of managing broker/wholesaler relationships with confidence and credibility

• A self-starter with commercial acumen and the drive to grow with a business in build-out phase
