Interim Head of Category in Birmingham

Job description

We are currently working with a reputable public sector organisation based in Birmingham, who are recruiting for three Heads of Category on temporary, 6 month contracts.

The role will be inside IR35, and the successful candidates will have the ability to be on site in Birmingham for a minimum of two days per week.

The preference is for individuals who have strong experience within the categories of:

• Hard/Soft FM, Environmental, Regeneration, Housing
• Adults & Children’s services
• Health and Social Care

It’s essential that candidates have recent experience of working in an environment regulated by the PCR 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023 (and PSR where category appropriate), as well as completing the PA23 online training (at least 10 modules).

The organisation is going through a time of transformation and change, so strong leadership skills and experience are needed, demonstrating the ability to navigate around four members of staff whilst ensuring continuity of delivery whilst adapting to change. Proven experience of operating under strict governance processes supported by strong planning skills and techniques is preferred. Additionally, a key part of the roles will be to create consistency of support, advice, and trust with key stakeholders, so confidence and strong engagement skills are critical requirements of these roles.

Working hours:

• 5 days per week
• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
