Sales Advisor – Timber Merchant

Silverstone, Northamptonshire | £28,000 – £30,000 + Benefits

Do you enjoy building relationships, delivering great customer service, and spotting opportunities to grow business? This is your chance to join a respected timber merchant with over 130 years of history, supplying quality products across the UK.

Our client, one of the UK’s longest established timber merchants, is looking for a Sales Advisor to join their team in Silverstone, near Northampton. You’ll be office-based, handling incoming sales orders and enquiries, with the commercial savvy to upsell, cross-sell, and pick up the phone to grow accounts further. From time to time, you’ll also support the trade counter - so you’ll be comfortable face-to-face with customers as well as on the phone.

✨ What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming sales enquiries and processing orders efficiently
• Building strong relationships with customers, providing excellent service every time
• Spotting opportunities to grow business, following up proactively by phone
• Supporting the trade counter when needed, dealing with walk-in customers confidently
• Working closely with colleagues across the branch to ensure smooth operations

Who you are

• Experienced in inbound sales, customer service, or account management
• Ideally from a merchant background (builders’ merchants, timber, or similar) e.g. Travis Perkins, Hewsons, Grant & Stone
• Commercially sharp with the confidence to upsell and develop accounts
• Strong communicator with good admin and organisational skills
• Based within a commutable distance of Silverstone and happy to work on-site full time
