Grocery Channel Controller


MacGregor Black are partnering with a Leading International Chilled Food Manufacturer on the search for a Grocery Channel Controller. This is a full-time hybrid position based close to London, United Kingdom.


This is a pivotal commercial leadership opportunity within a purpose-driven, values-led food business. You’ll take full ownership of a major UK retail account, playing a central role in driving growth and safeguarding one of the organisation’s most profitable customer relationships.


Alongside managing this flagship account, you’ll lead and develop a small commercial team, including a National Account Manager and a National Account Executive.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Own the full P&L and commercial strategy for a key retail account, driving growth through strategic collaboration and executional excellence.
  • Lead customer-specific projects and innovation pipelines, managing complexities within a multi-layered stakeholder environment.
  • Line manage and develop a National Account Manager and a National Account Executive, ensuring performance, team cohesion, and long-term development.
  • Translate data and insights into actionable commercial plans, collaborating with internal teams including Supply Chain, New Product Development, Technical, Category, and Operations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across UK manufacturing sites to consistently meet service, quality, and commercial objectives.
  • Play a key role in shaping broader customer strategy, sharing best practices and commercial insights across a wider portfolio.


What We're Looking For:


  • Proven experience managing a major UK retailer food account at a senior or equivalent level, with strong knowledge of its systems, stakeholder ecosystem, and strategic priorities.
  • Deep category expertise in complex proteins such as fish, meat, poultry, or dairy.
  • Strong ownership of P&L with a track record of managing significant turnover and driving profitable growth in both own-label and branded environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead within a matrix organisation, managing diverse internal and external stakeholders across commercial and operational functions.
  • Commercially astute and insight-driven, with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalising on new opportunities while maintaining rigorous attention to detail to ensure timely delivery.
  • Experienced team leader capable of coaching and developing others, balancing hands-on involvement with accountability.
