Head of Enterprise Risk Management - c.£140,000 + Benefits

Location: Hybrid 3 days office


An established and growing financial services group is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Enterprise Risk Management to lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of its Risk Management Framework.


This strategic leadership role is central to embedding a proactive and commercially aware risk culture across the organisation. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to the Executive and senior leadership teams, ensuring that risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in line with regulatory expectations and best practice.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Framework Development
  • Design, evolve, and embed the organisation’s Risk Management Framework in line with regulatory standards and industry best practice.
  • Champion a forward-looking risk culture that supports business agility and resilience.
  • Provide horizon scanning and scenario analysis to inform strategic planning.
  • Risk Governance & Reporting
  • Lead the development and maintenance of risk appetite statements aligned to business objectives.
  • Oversee governance of risk committees, preparing insightful risk reporting and thematic analysis for Board and Executive stakeholders.
  • Deliver regular reporting on key and emerging risks, ensuring clear visibility and accountability.
  • Engagement & Collaboration
  • Partner with business leaders to provide expert risk guidance and challenge.
  • Build strong working relationships across the three lines of defence to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Support continuous improvement through training, awareness, and engagement initiatives.


About You:

  • Proven experience in enterprise or operational risk management within financial services, ideally with exposure to regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance, and regulatory expectations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Commercially minded, analytical, and able to translate complex risk information into actionable insight.
