Denholm Associates is looking for an Merchant Engagement Ambassador in Scotland

Job description

Are you an outgoing, motivated individual who brings a passion for supporting local communities? This is your chance to launch your career in a role that combines relationship-building, creativity, and real social impact.

A fast-growing, purpose-driven organisation is helping to strengthen local economies and champion small businesses through an award-winning local gift card programme. We’re looking for a Merchant Engagement Ambassador to join the team and help local businesses across Scotland thrive.

The Role

This is not a traditional sales role – it’s about connection, collaboration, and community. As a Merchant Engagement Ambassador, you’ll:

  • Visit independent shops, cafés, and local venues, helping them get the most out of the local gift card initiative.
  • Act as the friendly, visible face of the programme across Scotland.
  • Create engaging social media content that highlights local businesses and success stories.
  • Support merchants with in-store promotions, marketing materials, and training.
  • Attend local events, business forums, and networking sessions to spread the word and build relationships.
  • Share insights and ideas to help the programme continue to grow and evolve.

Every week will bring something different — from high street visits and event days to creative content creation and community engagement.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A confident communicator who enjoys meeting new people.
  • Creative and comfortable using social media to tell stories and build engagement.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage your own schedule effectively.
  • Passionate about supporting local businesses and communities.
  • Eager to develop a career in sales, marketing, or customer engagement.
  • Able to travel across Scotland — a car and full driving licence are essential.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Make a difference: Help independent businesses thrive and strengthen local communities.
  • Variety and flexibility: A mix of home working, travel, and in-person engagement – no two weeks are ever the same.
  • Career development: Build experience across sales, marketing, and customer engagement in a supportive, growing organisation.
  • Positive culture: Join a friendly, collaborative team that values your input and encourages your ideas.

Location: Field-based across Scotland (home-based with travel)

Ideal for: Recent graduates or early-career professionals

Requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to a car
