VP Data Privacy in Glasgow

Barclay Simpson is looking for an VP Data Privacy in Glasgow

Job description

VP Data Privacy

£90-100k, plus 10% bonus and benefits

Shape global privacy strategy your way - with full autonomy and board-level visibility.

Hybrid, 3 days in Glasgow

You’ll be the trusted privacy leader for a global banking group, driving compliance and steering strategic decisions across the region. You’ll have space to think, freedom to act, and the trust of senior leadership to make the calls you believe in.

This isn’t a “tick-the-box” job. You’ll lead from the front, embed privacy into key business processes, and influence how this financial powerhouse scales responsibly across multiple markets from the second line. You’ll be rewarded accordingly - with a salary that reflects the scope, and a benefits package that gives you flexibility and peace of mind.

Working hybrid from brand new offices in Glasgow, you’ll balance deep-focus strategy days with collaborative sessions.

This is a privacy leadership position with scope to grow your regional and global impact. You’ll build strong relationships across business units and governance teams, embedding privacy-by-design across technology, operations and third-party risk.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the 2LOD privacy team, shaping policy, guiding business decisions, and keeping the company ahead of emerging risks. That includes:

  • Designing and improving privacy frameworks
  • Overseeing PIAs, DSARs, breach response and vendor privacy assessments
  • Advising senior stakeholders across technology, operations and third-party risk
  • Owning regional configuration and scaling tools that support compliance
  • Partnering with legal, risk, data governance and infosec teams to drive alignment

What you’ll bring

  • Deep understanding of GDPR, UK GDPR and privacy frameworks within financial services
  • Team leadership experience, responsible for the development of a team of high performing privacy professionals.
  • Hands-on experience leading privacy programmes or governance initiatives
  • IAPP CIPP/E certification

About the company

You’ll be joining a well-established global banking and FS group. The Glasgow office sits offers both calm focus and creative energy. They’re serious about privacy, and you’ll be central to how they build responsibly at scale.

Benefits include:

  • Private medical care
  • Online GP access
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Paid volunteer days
  • Active employee networks
  • Hybrid working (typically 2-3 days in office)
