Job description

A hands-on interim Head of Compliance role (SMF16) within a small, flat-structured bank, responsible for leading regulatory compliance oversight and supporting the CRO across all governance and control matters.

Responsibilities:

• Act as SMF16, overseeing the bank’s compliance framework and ensuring adherence to FCA and PRA requirements.
• Provide regulatory advice and guidance to the CRO, Board, and senior management.
• Maintain and enhance compliance monitoring and control frameworks.
• Lead regulatory horizon scanning and ensure timely implementation of new rules and policies.
• Manage compliance reporting, MI, and escalation of key risks to governance committees.
• Support training and awareness across the business, promoting a strong compliance culture.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as SMF16 (or Deputy) within a UK-regulated banking environment.
• Strong technical understanding of FCA and PRA regulations.
• Hands-on approach with willingness to engage in both strategic and operational tasks.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Immediately available or on short notice for a 6-month FTC.
