Estimating Lead - Perm POS in City of London

Our client is an award-winning global design agency of bespoke retail displays. They partner with some of the best-known brands and retailers worldwide to transform customer experience through insight, technology, and creativity.

The Opportunity

They have identified the need to create a new role for a Senior Estimator; detail-oriented and commercially aware to drive the creation of accurate, strategic cost estimates for retail display projects. This role will work closely with the commercial team & sourcing team to develop winning proposals and will lead a team of manufacturing-based estimators to deliver complex, multi-material costings across metalwork, joinery, plastics, and print.

Location: London or Fleet- UK or Mijdrecht- Netherlands

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Estimating Process:

Own the end-to-end estimating process for retail display projects, from brief to submission.

Ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with commercial strategy.

• Team Leadership & Oversight:

Manage & mentor a team of manufacturing-based estimators across disciplines (metalwork, joinery, plastics, print).

Review and validate team outputs to ensure consistency and accuracy.

• Commercial Collaboration:

Work closely with the commercial and sales teams to shape competitive proposals.

Provide cost insights and value engineering options to support bid strategy.

• Technical Interpretation:

Translate design concepts, technical drawings & specifications into detailed cost breakdowns.

Identify and flag technical risks or cost drivers early in the process.

• Supplier & Internal Liaison:

Engage with suppliers & internal production teams to validate pricing, lead times & feasibility.

Maintain up-to-date cost databases and supplier benchmarks.

• Process Improvement:

Continuously improve estimating tools, templates, and workflows for efficiency and accuracy.

Implement best practices in cost modeling and estimation methodology.

Implement new technologies such as AI in estimating process

• Risk & Opportunity Analysis:

Highlight cost risks and opportunities in each estimate.

• Support commercial decision-making with scenario-based costing and margin analysis.
• Project Handover Support:

Ensure smooth transition of estimates to project execution teams with clear documentation & rationale.

Key Skills and Experience

· Proven background in estimating within retail display, shopfitting, or fixture manufacturing.

· Familiarity with materials and processes including metalwork, joinery, plastics, and print.

· Experience leading or coordinating a team of estimators

· Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, Monday.com and estimating software.

· Exposure to client-facing commercial environments and tender submission teams
