M&E Commercial Lead

Location: London

Salary: £110,000 + Package (Car Allowance + All Travel Expenses + PV Pension + PV Healthcare + Discretionary Bonus)

We are representing one of the UK’s leading Contractors to source an M&E Commercial Lead. Our client has a history of delivering major commercial and mission critical projects for well-known industry clients. Alongside delivering hyperscale Data Centres, they’re specialists in delivering high quality Commercial, Healthcare/Pharmaceutical, Rail and Retail projects.

As a result of winning multiple projects, they are actively looking to recruit for their Commercial team. This is a great opportunity to join their growing team in a Lead position as the projects are massive, work is being won and they’re growing at an amazing rate.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing your own projects and daily duties delegated by the Business unit Commercial Manager.
  • Overseeing your own commercial duties across projects within your remit (sector depending on influx of work) in the Commercial, Rail, Healthcare and Data Centre sectors.
  • Build/Adopt partnerships with key stakeholders, including PQS, Main contractors and end users
  • Oversee commercial activities and prepare reports for Commercial Manager.
  • Work closely with all departments including Operations, Estimating, Procurement and design to deliver profitable work.
  • The management and preparation, submission and agreement of Applications and Final Accounts.
  • Regularly review business processes and promote evolution of better working practices
  • The management of Sub-Contractor Interim Payments including site measure, Payment and Pay Less Notices and Final Accounts.
  • Liaise with the Operations team in the procurement of Sub-Contractor packages including financial checks, assessing commercial competitiveness and the preparation of the Sub-Contract documents.
  • Supporting the monitoring of the progress of live projects.
  • The preparation and submission of contractual notices and /or correspondence to both the Client and Sub-Contractors.
  • Preparation of cash flows, monthly cost reports and analysis of budgets.
  • The monitoring of costs across the division
  • Overseeing resource allocation and recruitment needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Have detailed M&E technical knowledge and an understanding of the construction process
  • Be contractually aware and knowledgeable.
  • Experience managing a team and nurturing junior staff
  • Have good problem-solving skills
  • Have the communication skills necessary for dealing with both clients and sub-contractors.
  • Be able to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ideally have JCT and NEC experience
  • Experience working within the commercial, and/or healthcare, laboratories, data centre and rail sector ideally
  • Experience in a senior management role
  • Have relationships with relevant supply chain including subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Have significant experience delivering multiple projects; to understand the fundamentals of managing multiple project teams.
