A well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Pickering is recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance team on a permanent basis.


This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on and commercially focused finance professional to take ownership of the finance function within a multi-site business. Offering a competitive salary of £55,000–£65,000, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to make a real impact.


Reporting into the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller will:

  • Oversee all finance operations across multiple sites, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and effective cashflow management
  • Lead and support a small finance team — getting involved in the day-to-day where needed, while driving continuous improvement and best practice
  • Take ownership of monthly management accounts, presenting insightful analysis and commentary to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Deliver budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis to support key commercial decisions and drive business performance
  • Oversee payroll, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining accuracy, compliance, and process efficiency
  • Partner with operations and site managers to provide commercial insight around costs, margins, and productivity
  • Review and develop financial systems and processes to support the business’s growth and improve reporting capability
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate the annual audit process with external partners
  • The ideal candidate will:

    • Qualified or part-qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA, or qualified by experience with proven success in a similar Finance Manager or Financial Controller role within manufacturing or engineering
    • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in management accounting, costing, and financial reporting
    • Proficient in Excel and experienced with accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or SAP
    • Confident working across multi-site operations, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Commercially astute, proactive, and adaptable — comfortable balancing day-to-day operations with strategic finance responsibilities
  • This position is based in Pickering, North Yorkshire, and is easily commutable from York, Scarborough, Malton, Driffield, Pocklington, and Thirsk.
