SThree are pleased to announce we’re recruiting for a talented Head of IT Infrastructure, Operations and Security to join our team based in our fantastic office space located in London.
As Head of IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security, you will lead the infrastructure and operations teams, taking full responsibility for the organisation’s core technology services—including infrastructure, digital workplace, and IT security. You will ensure the secure design, management, maintenance, and performance of key systems such as networks, datacentres, cloud platforms, servers, and end-user devices. Working closely with business and IT leadership, you will define and deliver the strategic roadmap and high-level design for all infrastructure, digital workplace, and security operations, driving innovation, resilience, and operational excellence across the organisation.

What are the day-to-day tasks?
- Strategies and Operational control: Develops strategies for managing the cloud infrastructure, Digital Workplace and Security Operations, providing technical leadership to optimise the performance and cost base of the services
- Monitoring and reporting: Ensures that operational issues are identified, recorded, monitored and resolved. Provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users and managers.
- Policies, operational procedures and standards: Designs and develops operational standards and procedures for cloud infrastructure, Digital Workplace and Security Operations management, aligning all operations procedures to service expectations and other quality standards.
- Maintenance and installation: Oversees the planning, installation, maintenance and acceptance of new and updated infrastructure, Digital Workplace and Security components and services. Defines safety and security procedures to be followed, and delegates tasks at the appropriate level.
- Incident management: Reviews incidents and breaches of service level agreements. Reports on findings and initiates improvement actions.
- Automation tools: Investigates and manages the adoption of tools, techniques and processes (including automation) for the management of systems and services.
- Problem Management: Conducts investigations of significant operational outage and provides recommendations for problem mitigation. Initiates reviews of infrastructure performance to surface & resolve problems and build infrastructure resilience.
- Service levels: Ensures that the Cloud infrastructure, Digital Workplace and Security operations team meet Service or Operational Level Agreements. Reports and presents service level information to stakeholders. Reviews of service level information and reports to stakeholders, recommending appropriate action.
What skills and knowledge are we looking for?
- Proven experience in cloud infrastructure and digital workplace security.
- Proven experience migrating legacy on-prem services to cloud platforms (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS).
- Hands-on expertise with containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Skilled in using templates and configurable items to enable infrastructure automation.
- Experience with DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment in distributed environments.
- Proficient in monitoring tools and techniques within dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Capable of designing self-healing and fault-tolerant systems.
- Solid understanding of stateless, loosely coupled applications and RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with messaging and queuing services for scalable system design.
- Experienced in Infrastructure as Code—covering design, security, configuration, integration, deployment, and performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Java, C#, PHP, or Ruby.
