Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Estimator / Technical Specification Advisor to join a specialist contractor within the industrial and commercial roofing and cladding refurbishment sector. The business is recognised for delivering high-quality building envelope solutions across the UK from roof and wall refurbishment to complex over cladding, insulation upgrades, and weatherproofing systems.
This role is suited to a technically proficient professional who can confidently assess building conditions, propose tailored refurbishment strategies, and prepare detailed costings supported by accurate technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Surveys & Consultations: Attend client sites to inspect existing roofing and cladding systems, identify performance or compliance issues, and gather detailed condition data.
- Technical Advisory: Discuss a range of refurbishment and overlay solutions with clients, offering expert guidance on materials, thermal efficiency, lifespan, sustainability, and warranty benefits.
- Estimating & Documentation: Prepare precise cost estimates and supporting technical specifications in line with project requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer guidance.
- Collaboration: Liaise with procurement, design, and project delivery teams to ensure proposals are achievable, cost-effective, and technically compliant.
- Client Engagement: Represent the business professionally during site visits, client meetings, and presentations, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven background in industrial or commercial roofing and cladding systems, ideally within refurbishment, overlay, or retrofit projects.
- Strong understanding of materials, system design principles, and compliance frameworks (thermal performance, fire safety, and warranty requirements).
- Confidence in presenting technical solutions clearly and persuasively to clients and stakeholders.
- Commercially astute with excellent written and numerical accuracy.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to client sites nationwide.
