Veterinary Technical Advisor


Position Summary: The Veterinary Technical Advisor is a key member of the Veterinary Technical Services Team, responsible for providing first-line support for product-related technical inquiries from veterinary professionals, farmers, and pet owners. This role involves managing pharmacovigilance cases, supporting internal teams, and contributing to the development and dissemination of disease and product knowledge. The position primarily supports the companion animal portfolio, with flexibility to assist in the farm animal segment as needed.


Key Responsibilities:


Customer Support

  • Respond to technical inquiries via phone, email, and mail in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain and update a database of frequently asked questions
  • Provide guidance on off-label product use in line with regulatory codes of practice
  • Support and train other team members in customer service best practices

Pharmacovigilance

  • Record and respond to reports of suspected adverse events, lack of efficacy, and product complaints
  • Investigate cases in compliance with standard operating procedures and global pharmacovigilance guidelines
  • Use global PV software to manage cases and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with field veterinarians and technical consultants for complex investigations

Technical Knowledge and Disease Information

  • Develop and maintain expertise in relevant disease areas and product portfolios
  • Attend conferences and review literature to stay current with industry developments
  • Support marketing and operations teams with technical insights and materials
  • Lead internal initiatives focused on specific diseases within the product portfolio
  • Manage and update technical content on internal platforms

Administrative Duties

  • Provide coverage for other technical advisors during holidays
  • Ensure internal and external databases are accurate and compliant
  • Assist with the distribution of technical information to customers and sales teams


Qualifications and Skills

  • Active registration with RCVS
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to interpret and convey technical information clearly
  • High level of personal accountability and professionalism
  • Team-oriented with a customer-focused mindset
  • Willingness to learn new products and disease areas
  • Proficient in computer systems and software
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel and participation in out-of-hours support rota
