Job description
Practical Arboriculture Tutor/Instructor York Campus | SP26 £30,537 to SP29 £33,365 per annum, pro rata | Part-time (0.6 FTE)
We’re looking for a hands-on, passionate Arboriculture Tutor/Instructor to join our Horticulture team at Askham Bryan College. Based at our York campus, you’ll lead and support the practical delivery of arboriculture across a range of study programmes.
You’ll be teaching ground and aerial tree work, maintaining equipment to PUWER and LOLER standards, and helping students develop the skills they need for the industry. You’ll also support events like open days, interviews, and parent evenings—bringing energy and professionalism to every interaction.
You’ll work closely with Course Managers and the Head of Department to ensure high standards across our full cost, community, and adult education provision.
What we’re looking for:
- A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- NPTC or LANTRA qualifications in chainsaw maintenance, felling, aerial rescue, and rope/harness use
- Experience in leading teams or projects
- A learner-focused approach and strong communication skills
A full driving licence is essential
