Why This Role?

This isn’t a standard teaching position. As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating structured, nurturing learning environments where pupils with diverse and complex needs can achieve real progress.

You will be working with pupils who may present needs such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
  • ADHD and sensory processing differences
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Trauma-related barriers and attachment needs

Your role will be crucial in helping pupils build confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills and independence.


What You Will Do

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Create a safe, consistent and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with TAs, therapists and pastoral teams to ensure holistic support
  • Use trauma-informed, person-centred, and multi-sensory approaches
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and external agencies
  • Implement behaviour strategies that promote self-regulation and positive choices


What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS) — ECTs strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience working in SEN, alternative provision or specialist environments
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • Patience, adaptability and resilience when managing challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies such as PECS, Makaton, TEACCH or Zones of Regulation (desirable)
  • A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed
