Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Setting Calculation Specialist to join our Protection & Control Automation team. The role focuses on designing, calculating, and validating protection settings for transmission and distribution substations.


Key Responsibilities:

Protection Settings & Coordination: Perform detailed settings calculations for overcurrent, distance, differential, earth fault, and busbar protection. Develop and validate protection coordination schemes to ensure selective tripping and system reliability. Interpret short-circuit, load flow, and relay study results to determine optimal settings.

Relay Configuration & Verification: Configure, simulate, and commission protection relays. Conduct FAT/SAT and field testing, including injection testing, logic verification, and GOOSE messaging simulations.

Automation & System Integration: Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate relays with SCADA, RTUs, and communication networks (IEC61850, DNP3, Modbus). Ensure settings are compatible with digital substation solutions.

Project Leadership & Customer Interface: Act as technical lead for protection settings within projects. Collaborate with project managers, design teams, and clients.

Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain templates, calculation tools, and best practices. Contribute to innovation in substation protection and automation.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-10 years in substation protection engineering, with strong emphasis on protection settings calculations and coordination studies.
  • Proven experience in transmission and distribution substations, including HV/MV systems.
  • Hands-on experience with relay configuration, simulation, and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in protection principles, relay logic, and settings calculations.
  • Experience with protection study software (ETAP, DIgSILENT, or equivalent).
