Position: Legal Counsel

Location: Birmingham, UK (Full-Time, On-Site)

Compensation: Up to £130,000 per year


About the Opportunity

A leading global automotive OEM with major development investment in the UK is expanding its legal function and is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Birmingham office. This organisation is driving advanced mobility innovation, next-generation vehicle tech and international market growth. You will be part of a fast-scaling international team and work directly with senior business leadership across Europe and Asia.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support across a wide range of commercial matters including contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business operations

• Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, and supplier contracts

• Advise internal stakeholders regarding UK and EU automotive regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, product liability, IP risk, and cross-border commercial activities

• Support internal policy development, risk mitigation strategies, compliance frameworks and internal legal processes

• Work closely with external counsel, government agencies and internal global legal teams when required

• Support legal aspects of R&D, technology collaboration, and international business development activities


Requirements

• Qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister

• 5+ years PQE in commercial law, corporate law or in-house legal counsel within automotive, industrial manufacturing or technology environment

• Strong contract drafting and negotiation capability

• Familiar with UK and EU commercial legal frameworks; cross-border legal experience strongly preferred

• Able to work independently and in fast-moving environments

• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner closely with leadership teams


Preferred Experience

• In-house legal experience at multinational corporate level

• Experience with R&D, engineering contracts or automotive regulatory matters

• Familiarity with international automotive markets and supply chain ecosystem is a plus
