Role: Financial Controller

Contract: 12 months

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £85K to £100K

Distinct is supporting an acquisitive Nottingham business in recruiting a Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance operations and support the company through a period of growth and change. This role is ideal for someone confident in driving financial accuracy, strengthening controls, and guiding a small finance team.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, ensuring timely and accurate outputs
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and compliance standards
• Provide clear financial insight to senior leadership to support strategic decisions
• Manage audits and statutory requirements
• Support system improvements, process streamlining, and automation initiatives
• Supervise and develop finance team members, ensuring effective task delivery

About you.

• Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong technical accounting skills
• Proven experience in financial control, reporting, and business partnering
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment and managing competing priorities
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills
• Able to drive improvements and introduce better ways of working
