Methods is looking for an User Experience Designer in England

Job description

Methods are looking for 3 x UX Designers on a contract basis.


Client: Central government department

Day Rate is £480pd inside IR35

2 days per week at either Manchester, Leeds or Sheffield DWP Hub

Initially until 31st March, scope for extension


Ideal candidate needs to be eligible to go through security clearance and have experience working on government projects.

Outcome 1: Improved FRC/FRF experience


  • A redesigned, simplified user journey based on GOV.UK standards
  • Prototypes tested with users and iterated based on feedback
  • Design specifications ready for development


Outcome 2: Fraud Investigations Case Management design


  • Clear case management workflows
  • Prototypes tested with users and iterated based on feedback
  • Design specifications ready for development


Outcome 3: Steady flow of backlog-ready design work


  • Prototypes tested with users and iterated based on feedback
  • Design specifications ready for development
  • Regular design input into sprint planning and refinement


Outcome 4: Improved Operational access to cases


  • Designs for searching, filtering, and prioritising cases
  • Prototypes tested with users and iterated based on feedback
  • Design specifications ready for development


Ways of Working:

  • Collaboration within multidisciplinary teams (Product, Dev, UR, Ops)
  • Designs aligned to GOV.UK Design System and accessibility requirements
  • Regular feedback loops, design reviews, and handovers
  • Understand user needs and designs services, products and tools to meet them.
  • Create and iterate prototypes to test and communicate ideas and help the wider team learn about user needs.
  • Understand as-is interaction design and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure that the design of services is consistent, both internally and with the rest of

  • Contribute to building an open and collaborative culture within the team and the department’s design community.


Key responsibilities:

Technical Skills/experience:

  • Using data from research and analytics to understand user’s needs and test designs to meet them.
  • Designing collaboratively and in the open, engaging the team in the design process.
  • Creating prototypes to test ideas and learn from.
  • Designing with consideration for accessibility and inclusion.


Experience of working in government/DWP. Sharing knowledge across teams, making sure that your designs are reusable and consistent with the

GOV.UK

Design System.
