Volunteer Coordinator - Volunteer in Iwade

Kent Safeguarding and Attendance Forum CIC (KSAF) is looking for an Volunteer Coordinator - Volunteer in Iwade

Job description

Help coordinate a growing national network improving safeguarding and attendance in schools. Welcome new volunteers, keep projects running smoothly, and support a passionate team making real change. Flexible, remote, and rewarding.

What difference will you make?

The Volunteer Coordinator will play a vital role in helping the Kent Safeguarding and Attendance Forum (KSAF) grow sustainably and continue delivering free, high-quality training to professionals working with children and families across the UK.

As a volunteer-led organisation, KSAF depends on the commitment, organisation and communication of its team. Every new project, training session and event relies on volunteers working together - and that collaboration only succeeds when people feel supported, valued and connected. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures this happens.

By managing onboarding, communication and scheduling, this role will help us

  • Strengthen internal communication so that everyone knows what’s happening, when and why — preventing confusion and missed opportunities.
  • Improve volunteer retention and engagement by creating a positive experience for every new team member from the moment they join.
  • Free up leadership capacity so that the Founder and Strategic Development Lead can focus on developing new partnerships, CPD content and research.
  • Maintain consistency and professionalism in how we present ourselves to new volunteers, partner organisations and the wider education sector.

The result is a stronger, more efficient organisation — one that can expand its reach and deliver even more impact for schools, children and families.

Ultimately, your coordination will directly support our mission to link attendance and safeguarding practice, promoting early intervention and child-centred approaches across the education sector. Every meeting you arrange, every volunteer you support, and every system you help streamline will contribute to the success of that mission.

By ensuring our volunteers have what they need to thrive, you’ll be helping us grow a national movement that’s reshaping how schools think about attendance, safeguarding and wellbeing. The impact will ripple far beyond the KSAF team — reaching hundreds of professionals and, in turn, thousands of children across the country.

Your contribution will be more than organisational support — it’s a cornerstone of how we sustain and scale our work. You’ll be the person who keeps the heart of KSAF beating smoothly, making it possible for us to continue doing what we do best bringing people together to protect, support and empower every child to attend, achieve and feel safe.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who’s organised, friendly and people-focused, with a genuine interest in education, safeguarding, or community work.

The ideal Volunteer Coordinator will be a natural communicator — someone who enjoys supporting others, bringing structure to busy projects, and helping people feel included and valued. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own time, and staying on top of messages and meetings in a remote environment.

Key qualities

  • Reliable, organised and detail-oriented
  • Approachable and supportive — a good listener who can build rapport easily
  • Confident using email, Microsoft Teams, and basic online tools (e.g. Google Forms, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Discreet and professional when handling information
  • Positive, proactive and comfortable suggesting improvements

Experience

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Previous experience in administration, HR, coordination, or education would be helpful but not essential — we value enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment most of all.

Experience working or volunteering within a school, charity, or community organisation would be an advantage, especially if you’ve helped manage volunteers or support team activities before.

Applicants will need at least 3 years experience in a management, leadership, supervisor or team leader role.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who believes in KSAF’s mission — strengthening the link between attendance and safeguarding — and who wants to use their organisational and people skills to make a genuine difference.

This role is ideal for someone looking to build experience in volunteer management, education administration or community engagement, while contributing to a growing, national network that’s improving outcomes for children and families.

What will you be doing?

As Volunteer Coordinator for the Kent Safeguarding and Attendance Forum (KSAF), you’ll help us keep our growing volunteer team organised, connected, and supported as we expand our national network.

KSAF is a volunteer-led professional forum bringing together education, safeguarding and attendance professionals across the UK. We deliver free online CPD, resources and events designed to strengthen the link between attendance and safeguarding in schools. Since launching in August 2025, we’ve reached over 300 professionals and built an inspiring team of volunteers helping to shape national conversations around children’s welfare and school engagement.

Your role will focus on people and coordination - ensuring our volunteers feel valued, informed and part of something meaningful.

Key responsibilities

  • Volunteer onboarding Welcome new volunteers, send introductory information, arrange initial Teams calls and make sure they understand their role and who to contact.
  • Communication management Monitor our shared inboxes, respond to general volunteer queries and flag anything that needs follow-up to the Founder or Strategic Development Lead.
  • Team coordination Maintain an up-to-date list of all volunteers, their roles, time commitments and DBS status (where applicable).
  • Scheduling and admin Help arrange online meetings, circulate agendas, record attendance and share key updates with the wider team.
  • Tracking progress Support the Founder and Strategic Development Lead in keeping an overview of volunteer activities, projects and training attendance.
  • Wellbeing and support Check in with volunteers regularly, encourage engagement and highlight any support or development needs.
  • Process improvement Help refine our onboarding materials, welcome packs and internal systems to make volunteering with KSAF as smooth as possible.

You’ll work most closely with Joshua (Founder) and Scott (Strategic Development Lead), both of whom provide oversight for volunteer management and organisational development. We currently have a small but growing team of volunteers across areas such as CPD Evaluation, Safeguarding, Partnerships and Communications.

This is a remote role, so all work takes place online using tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Slack. Most communication happens through email and scheduled calls, but there’s plenty of scope for creativity and new ideas.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, keeping things organised and bringing structure to a busy but positive environment. You don’t need to be an expert in safeguarding or education — what matters is reliability, communication skills and a genuine interest in helping others succeed. Applicant will have at least 3 years experience in management, leadership, team leader or supervisor roles.

In return, you’ll gain experience in volunteer management, coordination and community engagement, along with opportunities to take part in our CPD training and receive certificates recognising your contribution. You’ll also help shape the systems that support a growing, nationwide initiative — your ideas will genuinely make a difference.

If you love people, organisation and purpose-driven teamwork, this is a fantastic way to contribute to a cause that matters.
