Job description
Help strengthen SHH-UK’s volunteer community by fostering engagement, motivation, and belonging among volunteers supporting healthcare workers living with Long Covid. A rewarding remote role focused on our volunteers.

Volunteers are at the heart of SHH-UK’s work. By helping them feel valued, supported, and connected, you’ll play a key role in sustaining the charity’s ability to stand with healthcare workers living with Long Covid. Your leadership in volunteer engagement will ensure that every person who gives their time to SHH-UK feels part of a shared mission - improving the wellbeing of those who care for others. Through your efforts, SHH-UK will strengthen its capacity, grow its reach, and make a lasting difference to the healthcare community across the UK.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in volunteer engagement, community building, or people management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to motivate, listen, and build trust.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with good organisational skills.
- Empathy and understanding of the challenges facing healthcare workers living with Long Covid.
- Ability to foster inclusion, belonging, and shared purpose among volunteers.
- Comfortable working independently and remotely as part of a small, dedicated team.
- Commitment to SHH-UK’s mission, values, and ethos of compassion and support.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with SHH-UK volunteers.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to ensure smooth onboarding and induction processes.
- Support volunteers to feel valued, motivated, and connected to SHH-UK’s mission.
- Identify and respond to volunteers’ training and development needs.
- Create opportunities for ongoing engagement, such as check-ins, feedback sessions, and recognition activities.
- Report regularly on volunteer engagement and activities to the Trustee lead(s) and Board.
- Contribute ideas to strengthen SHH-UK’s volunteer culture and retention.
