Principal Scientist in Kent

Job description

We are recruiting a Principal Scientist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Kent on an initial 12 month contract. As the Principal Scientist you will focus on pre-formulation and biopharmaceutics, providing an exciting chance to contribute to the advancement of drug candidates from lead optimisation to proof of concept.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Principal Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the Principal Scientist you will collaborate within CMC and cross-functional teams as the pre-formulation and formulation development lead.

2. As the Principal Scientist you will design and deliver pre-clinical formulations for early discovery pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and toxicological studies through rational experimental planning, thoughtful execution, and clear data interpretation.

3. As the Principal Scientist you will carry out physicochemical characterisation of new chemical entities and advise project teams on compound developability potential, suggesting improvements and potential development de-risking strategies where required.

4. As the Principal Scientist you will coach and mentor more junior and less experienced members of staff by providing clear scientific and technical guidance and training.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Principal Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Material Sciences, or Chemical Engineering.

2. Proven industry experience in pre-formulation and biopharmaceutics.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with drug substance, crystallisation, and material characterisation.
