Job description
We're seeking someone with a legal background to join our board of trustees as Secretary, supporting the organisation on its journey to improving its governance. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who are committed to learning and making a difference.
What difference will you make?
As a secretary, you will help strengthen Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses' governance and systems, which has been highlighted as a priority as part of our new 5-year strategy. This is an exciting time for the organisation as it navigates putting in place a more professional board of trustees, and an opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, but also to have a positive impact.
What are we looking for?
- Legal background or charity law experience/willingness to learn
- 3+ years legal/compliance/governance experience (charity sector preferred)
- Strong understanding of Charity Commission requirements
- Excellent organisational & record-keeping skills
- Attention to detail with statutory requirements
- Available for in person Thursday evening meetings at BPCG
- Enthusiasm for community development & ecology
- Attend bi-monthly board meetings
- Ensure charity/company law compliance & Charity Commission requirements
- Advise on insurance, risk management & GDPR
- Review contracts & relevant legislation
- Maintain statutory records & documentation
- Ensure compliant board meetings & AGMs
- Monitor governing document compliance
