The Role and Candidate


As part of our expanding Construction team, we are seeking a Project Intern – Retail Construction Projects to support the successful delivery of new store openings, refurbishments, and retail fit-out projects across the UK.

In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers to ensure all project administration, documentation, and reporting processes run smoothly. You will liaise with internal departments and external partners to help maintain project quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities


Project Administration


  • Assist Project Managers throughout all project phases, from design and procurement to construction and handover.
  • Coordinate and support project meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking action points.
  • Support procurement activities by organising supplier information and tracking contracts, purchase orders, quotes, and invoices.
  • Assist in monitoring project costs and preparing information for stakeholder reviews.
  • Coordinate with departments such as Legal, Finance, Audit, Construction, and Design to facilitate smooth approval processes.


Document Control


  • Maintain and manage project documentation including drawings, specifications, permits, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Set up and manage digital filing systems (e.g., SharePoint, Procore, Asite, or similar).
  • Ensure clear version control so all stakeholders are working with the latest approved documents.


Key Requirements


Essential


  • Experience in a Project Administration, Document Control, or Project Support role—ideally within construction consultancy, retail fit-outs, or property development.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to support multiple concurrent projects.
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).


Desirable


  • Experience within a retail construction environment or multi-site rollout programmes.
  • Familiarity with UK project documentation standards.
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology, processes, and contracts.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; additional languages such as French, German, Spanish, or Chinese are beneficial.
