Portfolio Steering Lead – Global Insurance & Reinsurance Group

A leading international underwriter of insurance and reinsurance, with offices across major global markets, is seeking a Portfolio Steering Lead to help build and elevate its portfolio steering capabilities. The Opportunity

As Portfolio Steering Lead, you will work closely with the Chief Pricing Actuary and CUO office to design, deliver, and embed a systematic approach to portfolio steering. This is a greenfield role suited to someone who can translate strategy into action—and thrives in a hands-on, high-impact environment.


What You’ll Lead

✔ Build and manage the Pricing Review Group framework to evaluate portfolio performance using consistent metrics.

✔ Lead the quarterly portfolio steering process and deliver high-quality analysis with actionable insights.

✔ Work with pricing teams to cascade strategic actions down to individual accounts.

✔ Integrate pricing perspectives into quarterly business reviews and performance discussions.

✔ Build a structured program for line-of-business deep dives.

✔ Support planning cycles across the global business, including delegated business.

✔ Partner with data and analytics teams to develop tools and capabilities that enhance portfolio steering.

✔ Provide thought leadership on emerging topics such as cycle management.

✔ Prepare performance insights, exhibits, and commentary for senior leadership and board-level reporting.

✔ (Optional) Support pricing work during peak renewal periods.


What You Bring

  • Strong knowledge of global corporate and specialty (re)insurance.
  • Experience in portfolio steering, performance management, FP&A, actuarial pricing, or insurance consulting.
  • Ability to turn qualitative and quantitative data—sometimes imperfect—into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience working closely with pricing and underwriting teams.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel; exposure to tools like PowerBI advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts simply.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and comfort operating in an international environment.
