Job description

Milk Education are looking to appoint a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Walker. This long-term role is based within Key Stage 1, supporting pupils in the classroom across general learning activities, with additional focus on children who require SEN support.


This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about helping young learners build confidence, independence, and a love of school.


What We’re Looking For


You do not need a formal TA qualification, but you must have:

  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) working with children (schools, youth work, childcare, coaching, mentoring, etc.)
  • A warm, patient and supportive approach
  • Confidence supporting young children aged 5–7
  • Willingness to work with pupils who may have additional needs (e.g. Speech & language delays, learning difficulties, SEMH needs)
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork
  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn


Responsibilities May Include:

  • Providing general classroom support during lessons and activities
  • Working 1:1 or with small groups to support learning and progress
  • Supporting children with additional needs, following teacher/ SENCO guidance
  • Helping with phonics, reading, writing, and basic maths tasks
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and participation
  • Assisting with classroom routines, transitions and playtime supervision
  • Creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued
