The Opportunity

A leading UK Property Consultancy is seeking a Director / Associate Director level Building Surveyor to lead and grow its London Building Surveying capability. This is a high profile leadership role with responsibility for strategy, team development, client relationships and commercial performance across a well established London platform.


The role offers genuine autonomy and influence, working closely with senior leadership to shape the future direction of the service line. It will suit a commercially driven surveyor with a strong market presence who enjoys combining technical leadership with business development.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership and Strategy

  • Provide clear leadership to the London Building Surveying team
  • Develop and deliver the London business plan aligned with national strategy
  • Build a high performing, collaborative and commercially focused team
  • Contribute to wider office and firmwide leadership initiatives


Client Delivery and Technical Oversight

  • Act as lead advisor on complex and high value instructions
  • Oversee delivery across technical due diligence, contract administration, refurbishment, defect analysis and planned maintenance
  • Ensure consistently high technical standards, governance and client service


Business Development and Market Profile

  • Grow fee income through new client acquisition and deepening existing relationships
  • Enhance the firm’s profile in the London market through networking and thought leadership
  • Work closely with other service lines to drive cross selling opportunities


People and Talent Development

  • Recruit, mentor and develop surveyors at all levels
  • Support professional development and succession planning
  • Embed a positive, inclusive and high performing culture


About You

  • MRICS qualified
  • Operating at Director or Associate Director level within a consultancy environment
  • Strong track record of winning work and managing key client relationships
  • Proven leadership and team development experience
  • Commercially astute with experience managing fees, profitability and risk
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
