BUILDING SURVEYOR (BUILT HERITAGE/RESTORATION SECTOR)

London

£50 - £55k plus all travel, professional fees, and training allowance.


Brief:

We are seeking an experienced Heritage Building Surveyor to join an expert team, playing a key role in delivering and developing consultancy services in building conservation.

This award-winning Principal & Specialist contractor has over 50 years of experience in building restoration and the construction industry. Their nationwide work includes London, the Northern Region, and the Southern Region. The company prides itself on delivering outstanding work through a collaborative and professional approach.


The Role:

We are looking for a motivated and qualified professional ideally with expertise in building conservation, building pathology, and traditional forms of construction. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in undertaking and delivering detailed building or structural condition assessments and schedules of work. This is a hands-on, autonomous role with the support of the senior leadership team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Business Development & Technical Director in procuring, managing, and delivering consultancy and building surveying services
  • Undertake detailed condition assessments of historic and traditional buildings
  • Prepare schedules of work and technical reports
  • Advise on the use of traditional building materials, including limes, and maintenance of historic structures
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure high-quality outcomes


Qualifications:

  • Degree in a construction-related subject
  • Postgraduate qualification in Building Conservation


Knowledge Required:

  • Building conservation and building pathology
  • Traditional forms of construction and maintenance
  • Use and application of traditional building materials


Travel:

  • Must hold a UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel to project sites outside of London when required
  • Use of public transport is encouraged where possible


Professional Memberships:

  • Candidates will be encouraged to join relevant heritage bodies, such as Historic England, ICOMOS, and SPAB.
