Job description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support an Urgent Treatment Centre in Birmingham, on a long-term locum basis. The successful candidate will be able to perform all general duties expected of a HCA, undergoing health checks and caring for patients.


Required:

- HCA experience working within a UK UTC or A&E

- Experience treating patients of all ages (paediatric & adults)

Location: Birmingham

Contract: Locum | Full-Time or Part-Time | Adhoc bookings

Shift Times: 8am - 2pm/8am - 1pm | 2pm - 8pm/1pm - 6pm | 6pm - 11pm

Days: Mon - Sun

Pay (LTD Options available):

  • Days: £14.84 PAYE Inclusive p/h
  • Night: £16.18 PAYE Inclusive p/h


Duties:

  • Take and record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, O₂ saturation, respirations).
  • Perform ECGs, urinalysis, and blood glucose tests.
  • Assist clinicians with minor injury and illness assessments.
  • Chaperone patients during examinations or procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and equipment, ensuring infection control standards.
  • Carry out wound care, simple dressings, and removal of sutures or clips (if trained).
  • Collect and label specimens for lab testing.
  • Support patient mobility, comfort, and communication needs.
  • Update electronic patient records accurately
  • Assist with stock control and ordering of clinical supplies.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient patient flow.
