We’re looking for a proactive and operationally focused Transport Planner to join our growing logistics team in West Yorkshire. This role sits at the heart of the transport function, combining route planning, driver management and day-to-day operational control to ensure a safe, efficient and reliable transport operation. This role is working an Afternoon Shift on a Monday-Friday basis.
The Role
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and optimising routes across general haulage and groupage operations
- Managing and supporting drivers throughout the working day
- Running the daily transport function, keeping the operation moving smoothly
- Allocating work, monitoring progress and responding to live challenges
- Ensuring compliance, safety and service quality standards are met
- Communicating effectively with customers, drivers and internal teams
- Managing vehicle utilisation, delivery schedules and driver hours
- Building strong working relationships to maintain driver engagement and performance
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing planning with real-time operational control.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
✔ Previous experience in transport or logistics planning
✔ Strong knowledge of route optimisation and driver hours regulations
✔ Confidence in managing drivers and transport operations daily
✔ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
✔ A calm, organised approach when handling live operational challenges
✔ Desire to take ownership and drive continuous improvement
Experience in general haulage and groupage planning would be highly advantageous.
