Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Location: Canterbury, Kent

Salary: £28,000 + sleep-in payments

Hours / Shift Pattern: 40 hours per week, various shifts

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Residential Support Worker to provide practical, emotional, and educational support to children with complex emotional and behavioural needs. The role involves safeguarding their welfare, acting as a positive role model, and helping children achieve their potential.

Key Duties:

  • Support children’s physical, emotional, behavioural, and educational needs
  • Act as a key worker providing 1:1 guidance, advocacy, and support for learning and activities
  • Maintain and follow care plans, keeping accurate records
  • Promote positive behaviour and social development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending team meetings and contributing to care planning
  • Comply with safeguarding, health & safety, and company policies

Requirements:

  • Secondary education (Level 3 childcare qualification desirable)
  • Clean driving licence
  • Experience in residential care or working with children
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Awareness of safeguarding and equal opportunities
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Emotional resilience and understanding of challenging behaviour
