Job description

HB Tunnelling are looking for a Civil Engineering Estimator, ideally with experience in tunnelling, shaft sinking and trenchless industry to support the estimating and work winning team and reporting to the Pre-Contracts Director.

Key Requirements

Essential - Excel - Proficient in the use of excel

Essential - Experience using MS Project & Preparing Programmes Schedules

Essential - Construction knowledge background with civils and utilities experience

Desirable - Diploma/Degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, interpret project specifications, and estimate quantities and costs.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing documents, plans, and costs to ensure accuracy in estimates.

• Numeracy: Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills to calculate costs and quantities.

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices (or a willingness to learn).

• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

• Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized with documentation and deadlines.

• IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with senior estimators and other project team members.

• Training: Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training or formal coursework.
