Commercial Assistant – Fresh Produce

Up to £40,000

Location: On-site, Greater London/East London

Industry: Fresh Produce

Are you passionate about fresh produce and looking for a hands-on commercial role with real growth potential? This newly created Commercial Assistant position has arisen due to continued expansion within a thriving, grower-backed fresh produce business supplying major UK retailers including Sainsbury’s, Tesco and M&S.

Reporting to the head of department, you’ll play a key role in supporting the commercial function across the salad and vegetable categories. This is a genuinely varied position where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:

• Building strong relationships with retail category managers and buyers
• Supporting product management and helping make decisions alongside the Quality Control team
• Monitoring and managing stock levels to ensure availability and efficiency
• Getting involved across the full commercial cycle, from customer interaction to internal coordination
• Gaining exposure to both commercial and operational elements of a fast-paced produce business

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

• Experience within fresh produce (salads, veg, fruit, or similar)
• A genuine passion for the industry and a desire to be hands-on
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with both internal teams and retail customers
• A proactive mindset with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
