User Interface Designer

rmg digital is looking for an User Interface Designer in City of London

Job description

UI Designer (B2B)

Location: London (Hybrid 2 days a week)

Length: 6 Months

Rate: £375 per day Inside IR35

We’re looking for a mid-senior, UI-first designer who leads with visual craft and brand expression.

This role is about defining how brands show up digitally, often from a standing start. You’ll be working with B2B organisations where the brand is weak, unclear, or barely documented, and turning that into a confident, well-governed digital presence.

What you’ll do

  • Define and elevate digital brand expression for B2B clients with immature or poorly defined brands
  • Create visual foundations from scratch, not just apply existing design systems
  • Set the rules for how brands behave in UI, and ensure they scale over time
  • Partner closely with frontend teams to ensure clean, usable implementation

What we’re really looking for

  • A UI-first designer with strong visual taste and polish
  • Someone confident leading brand expression in a digital context
  • A designer who’s comfortable saying: “The brand isn’t there yet, here’s how we fix it digitally”

Key capabilities

  • Proven experience elevating underdeveloped brands in digital products or platforms
  • Ability to define and own:
  • Colour palettes
  • Typography systems
  • Photography styles
  • Graphic devices and visual language
  • Confidence setting UI rules, patterns, and governance — not just following them
  • Strong design systems experience, including:
  • Component structure
  • Tokenisation
  • Clear handoff to frontend teams
  • Long-term UI governance

What this role is not

  • A UX-heavy role focused on journey mapping, wireframes, or service design
  • A delivery-only role executing within a mature, premium B2C design system
  • A position for designers who lack visual depth or polish at a senior level

This is B2B work, often for organisations with:

  • Weak digital presence
  • Minimal or low-quality brand guidelines

You’ll need creative flair, confidence, and strong visual judgement to define how these brands come to life digitally. “Surprise and delight” UI thinking is welcome, as long as it’s grounded in solid systems thinking.
