Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our London‑based Restructuring team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior professionals, advising clients on complex restructuring transactions, distressed M&A, liability management exercises, and strategic alternatives. The role offers direct exposure to high‑profile situations across multiple industries, with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to all stages of transaction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Execution:
- Support origination and execution of restructuring mandates, including in‑court and out‑of‑court processes.
- Perform financial modelling, valuation, and scenario analysis to assess strategic options and capital structures.
- Prepare pitch books, management presentations, and other client materials.
- Client Interaction:
- Participate in client meetings and calls with senior bankers, providing analytical and strategic input.
- Assist in managing day‑to‑day client relationships and responding to client requests promptly and professionally.
- Industry & Situational Analysis:
- Conduct in‑depth research on companies, industries, and market trends, with particular focus on distressed situations.
- Analyse debt documentation and capital structures to identify restructuring alternatives.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with Analysts, Associates, and senior bankers in a collaborative team environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on modelling, analysis, and presentation skills.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Strong academic record with a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline; advanced degrees (MBA, MSc) or professional qualifications (ACA, CFA) an advantage.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, restructuring advisory, leveraged finance, or distressed debt investing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in complex financial modelling, valuation techniques, and debt analysis.
- Strong understanding of restructuring processes (UK schemes of arrangement, CVAs, Chapter 11, etc.) and distressed M&A dynamics.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams under demanding deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality deliverables.
- Commercial acumen and strategic thinking in distressed and special situations.
