One of my top, innovative, digital and product-led speciality insurance clients is seeking a Senior Delivery Lead to be the founding leader of delivery capability and a catalyst for a new, agile, product-led way of working.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can shape both delivery culture and practice from the ground up. You will work in close partnership with Product Leads and senior stakeholders to align delivery to customer value and quarterly OKRs, while building a transparent, outcome-focused governance model that enables learning rather than bureaucracy.

You will own portfolio-level delivery governance, act as the voice of delivery at senior forums, and coach and line-manage a growing team of Delivery and Business Change Managers. This role is suited to someone comfortable being the first delivery hire, establishing credibility, influence, and ways of working across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and embed a portfolio-level delivery governance model that provides clarity, visibility
  • Partner closely with Product Leads to translate OKRs into quarterly delivery plans and roadmaps grounded in product, user, and business outcomes.
  • Own and produce quarterly governance packs, ensuring senior stakeholders are engaged, informed, and aligned with delivery progress and risks.
  • Coach, line-manage, and grow a small team of Delivery Managers, building delivery capability and culture from the ground up.
  • Anticipate and manage cross-squad dependencies, surfacing risks early and coordinating decisions across teams.
  • Champion an agile, product-led delivery culture that balances pace with accountability and values collaboration over control.
  • Act as the voice of delivery in senior forums, providing clear portfolio-level reporting, insight, and narrative.

Your Impact

  • Delivery Managers are supported, coached, and thriving.
  • Quarterly governance runs smoothly, with no surprises and a clear link between delivery, OKRs, and value outcomes.
  • Delivery becomes a trusted and respected capability across the organisation.
  • Teams experience delivery practices as enablers of outcomes, not constraints.
  • A transparent, outcome-focused, and scalable delivery culture takes root.
  • Delivery is recognised as a driver of product value and cultural change, not just process.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience as a Delivery Lead / Senior Delivery Manager / Head of Delivery in a complex corporate environment.
  • Proven ability to embed delivery governance while preserving agility.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including coaching, line management, and capability building.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders, particularly Product Leads and executive teams.
  • Comfortable operating as the first or founding delivery hire, shaping culture and capability from day one.
  • Pragmatic, confident, and credible, able to lead through both structure and influence.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience delivering services or products to external users or customers.
  • Background across multiple industries, rather than a single-sector career.
  • Financial Services experience is welcome but not limited to insurance; insurance market experience is not mandatory.
  • Experience beyond traditional programme management, with a strong grounding in modern delivery management and product-led ways of working.

We welcome candidates from a broad range of backgrounds and industries. Financial Services experience is acceptable, even where insurance experience is limited!
