Automation Tester

1 day per week London

Circa £300 per day inside IR35

3 months initially with good chance of extension

Automation Testing

  • Design, develop, amend, and maintain automated Sanity and Regression test scripts using Java and/or C#.
  • Develop automation using one or more of the following frameworks/tools:
  • Playwright/Selenium/WebDriver/Cypress.
  • Implement and maintain BDD-style tests using Cucumber/Regnroll
  • Ensure automation code follows strict coding standards, best practices, and version control guidelines.
  • Perform dry-runs to validate the correctness and stability of automated test scripts.
  • Schedule and execute automated regression suites; generate and share automation test reports with stakeholders.

Manual Testing

  • Analyse functional requirements to produce well-structured test scenarios and test cases.
  • Perform functional, system, integration, compatibility, regression, smoke and exploratory testing.
  • Manage and track defects through their lifecycle, ensuring clear documentation, prioritisation, and validation of fixes.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and story reviews to ensure testability and acceptance criteria coverage.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on programming experience in Java and/or C# for automation development.
  • Proven experience in building UI/API automation using Selenium, Playwright, and/or Cypress.
  • Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber (Java) or Regnroll
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, STLC, and defect lifecycle.
  • Experience writing clear and maintainable test cases, test charters, and test documentation.
  • Strong understanding of requirement analysis and translating acceptance criteria to test scenarios.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile project environments.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver to strict timelines.
