Chief Technology & Data Officer (CTDO) | London, UK | Insurance Start Up London Market MGA


A PE-backed, high-growth London Market MGA has retained Invecta to support them in their search for a Chief Technology & Data Officer to build its technology and data foundations from scratch.

We are looking for a true innovator with visionary thinking and the delivery grit to turn strategy into shipped capability.


What you’ll do:

  • Own the tech + data strategy and roadmap, aligned to scale and future M&A integration.
  • Architect a secure, scalable cloud and data estate; integrate best-in-class third-party platforms, APIs and external data sources.
  • Build a “single pane of glass” underwriting ecosystem that visualises risk, improves decisioning, and automates selected workflows.
  • Establish data governance and deploy automation/ML to improve underwriting efficiency, risk selection and pricing accuracy.
  • Lead Cyber Essentials Plus end-to-end; embed security-by-design, testing cycles and audit readiness.
  • Build and lead a lean engineering + data team, and manage vendors with clear KPIs/SLAs.


What we’re looking for:

  • Senior technology/data leader with strong engineering/architecture roots (CTO/CDO/Chief Architect level).
  • Demonstrable experience in building technology and data estates from scratch - ideally in a greenfield or scale-up environment.
  • Hands-on technical capability - able to prototype, build POCs, and validate solutions personally.
  • Deep expertise across cloud architecture, API integrations, and data engineering; hands-on with POCs and vendor challenge.
  • Experience embedding AI & Machine Learning in aid of business growth.
  • London Market/(re)insurance, digital underwriting/quote-and-bind platforms, M&A integration, marine/IoT risk intelligence.
